Search and edit saved transcripts.
Find previous recordings in your local transcript history. Edit the text, copy it or share it with another app.
Speech models, languages and corrections.
Choose from available speech models and languages, add vocabulary replacements, and use optional AI refinement. On-device speech and Apple Intelligence depend on model, hardware and system support; cloud options use credits.
Dictate in other apps with the keyboard.
Use Dictop in supported text fields while the app manages an explicitly started recording session. The keyboard coordinates with the app; it does not access the microphone itself.
01
Set up the keyboard
Add Dictop in iOS keyboard settings and enable Full Access for app coordination. Grant microphone permission to the Dictop app separately.
02
Start a session in Dictop
Open the app and explicitly start a keyboard session. Then return to the app where you want to write.
03
Speak, then insert
Switch to the Dictop keyboard in a supported field. Use its dictation controls to create and insert a transcript while the app records.
04
Stop when you’re finished
End the session in Dictop or with the Live Activity Stop action, where supported. A session lasts at most one hour.
Full Access does not grant microphone access. Some apps and secure fields do not allow custom keyboards. When a session needs attention, open Dictop manually.
Recording controls and Live Activity.
Use native recording controls in the app. During an active keyboard session, the Live Activity shows session status and a Stop action, where supported; it does not display your transcript.
On-device and cloud processing.
On your device
Available on-device speech models process audio locally. Apple Intelligence can refine text on device where supported and selected.
Optional cloud models
Choosing cloud transcription sends audio to the speech service and selected provider. Cloud rewriting sends the transcript and configured prompts. Credits are separate.
A one-time purchase for on-device dictation. Optional cloud processing, paid separately.
On-device dictation: one-time purchase.
Try on-device transcription free for 30 days. After the trial, make a one-time purchase to keep using it. You are not charged automatically when the trial ends.
Check the App Store and the in-app purchase screen for current regional prices and eligibility on your device.
Cloud processing: pay-as-you-go credits.
Buy cloud transcription time when you need it. Cloud speech models and cloud AI refinement use credits; on-device processing follows the app’s purchase and model requirements.
Available models, credit prices and any introductory cloud allowance are shown in the app. Purchase availability can vary by platform and account.
Purchase and restore options are shown on each device.
